Nestled in the Wiltshire countryside on an old RAF airbase is Science Museum’s purpose-built facility, home to over 300,000 objects of varying sizes. Since 2023, I have been employed to help photograph a small fraction of this collection - from Oppenheimer’s Trinity Test timing device to Piccard's Gondola (pictured left). This opportunity has been nothing short of stratospheric. Activity around site steadily increased last year, with many major long-term projects going on. Coinciding with the closure of Blythe House (where collections were originally kept) and consequent rehoming of objects to the National Collections Centre, many large objects (no planes, but many trams, trains and automobiles) were also relocated from the on-site hangars. As a photography team of 3 on-site, our work involves liaising with different teams (Conservation, Logistics, Curatorial) to create&nbsp;editorial, advertising and educational imagery with a strong, creative style.Alongside core work, I self-initiated a personal documentary project which is still ongoing.&nbsp;Knowing these photographs will be viewed in many years to come is truly awesome. <img Martin and Darina Bellamy are the owners of Bledisloe House and the surrounding 10-acre plot. They have proposed a major development on the sheep-grazing land of 23 new homes, a cricket pavilion and a shop. Despite some support for the new additions to the village, the couple have also been met with negativity and spite.&nbsp; “The need for affordable housing in&nbsp;Coates is undeniable. Spoken Memories is a UWE-funded research project linked to Bristol’s History Commission, which was set up by Mayor Marvin Rees in response to the events and debates surrounding the toppling of the Edward Colston statue in 2020. The project has recorded the oral histories of 15 citizens of Bristol who each have stories about their local area. They were also asked -&nbsp; 'If you could make a permanent memorial to remember your history story, what would it be and why?'. I was commissioned to photograph the people who were interviewed, to help provide a visual record that corresponds with the spoken memories that exist in audio form. The couple don’t employ any staff and do all the work themselves. It is also too large for two people, and is expensive to run. Its oil and electricity bills total around $12,300 per year, said Mr. Thomas. Mr. Thomas’s grandfather, Birt Llewellin, purchased Boulston Manor in the 1950s after making his fortune in the family butter-churn business. When Mr. Thomas was around 30, his parents inherited the riverside house, which is in the Welsh county of Pembrokeshire, and lived there until his father died in 2002. At that point, he said, his mother realized that the 10-bedroom, 9,128-square-foot house was too large for her to manage alone. Matthew Clarke and his sister Bridget grew up in Gatcombe Court, which is now for sale just outside of Bristol. I was asked to produce new marketing material for&nbsp;South Gloucestershire and Stroud College. Working closely with current students and members of staff, this was a wonderful commission that I felt a personal connection to, after attending Bristol School of Art (SGS) only a couple of years before. The college is divided across a number of campus’, with each one providing a variety of courses. The good people at theprintspace commissioned me to photograph the specialised processes involved in their day-to-day operations. Over two days in their London printing hub, we worked closely with the on-site technical team. The resulting imagery was for online use by people who use theprintspace to fulfil online print orders. Whether that's taking a walk with friends to discover new places or choosing to ride the bike to work we want people to be inspired to travel more sustainably.” Working closely with the wonderful team at Golley Slater in Cardiff, I loved photographing on location for this OOH advertising campaign. The workshop was with artist, designer and maker Synnøve Fredericks who has been working with a group of students to help design a sculpture, which is due to be installed and displayed when the new Academy building is opened. I was invited on site for the day to document the design stage.
